First Trimester
The foundation of life begins. Your baby transforms from a tiny cluster of cells into a fully formed miniature human with all organs developing.
Second Trimester
The golden period arrives. Energy returns, morning sickness fades, and you'll feel those magical first kicks.
Third Trimester
The final stretch. Your baby gains weight rapidly, lungs mature, and you prepare to meet your little one.

First Trimester
Weeks 1-12
1 week pregnant
Your menstrual cycle begins. The uterine lining thickens to prepare for potential implantation.

2 weeks pregnant
Ovulation occurs mid-cycle. The egg travels down the fallopian tube awaiting fertilization.

3 weeks pregnant
Conception happens! Sperm meets egg, forming a zygote that begins dividing rapidly.

4 weeks pregnant
The blastocyst implants in the uterine wall. Early pregnancy hormones begin production.

5 weeks pregnant
The embryo's heart begins to form. Neural tube development starts this crucial week.

6 weeks pregnant
Tiny arm and leg buds appear. The heart starts beating at about 110 times per minute.

7 weeks pregnant
Brain hemispheres are forming. Facial features begin to take shape including eyes and nose.

8 weeks pregnant
All major organs have begun forming. The embryo is now about the size of a raspberry.

9 weeks pregnant
Tiny fingers and toes are forming. The embryo can now make small movements.

10 weeks pregnant
Vital organs are developed and beginning to function. The embryo is now called a fetus.

11 weeks pregnant
Baby is moving actively though you can't feel it yet. Tooth buds are forming in the gums.

12 weeks pregnant
Reflexes are developing. Baby can open and close fingers and curl toes. End of first trimester!
Second Trimester
Weeks 13-26
13 weeks pregnant
Your energy returns as morning sickness fades. Your uterus is now the size of a grapefruit.

14 weeks pregnant
You may notice a small baby bump forming. Your appetite increases as nausea subsides.

15 weeks pregnant
Your heart pumps 20% more blood now. You might experience nosebleeds or bleeding gums.

16 weeks pregnant
Your bump becomes more visible. You may feel fluttering movements called quickening soon.

17 weeks pregnant
Your center of gravity shifts as your belly grows. Back pain may begin as posture changes.

18 weeks pregnant
You may feel baby's first kicks! Your cardiovascular system works harder to support pregnancy.

19 weeks pregnant
Round ligament pain is common as your uterus expands. Skin changes like linea nigra may appear.

20 weeks pregnant
Halfway there! Your uterus reaches your belly button. Anatomy scan typically happens this week.

21 weeks pregnant
Your belly grows about 1cm per week now. Stretch marks may start appearing on skin.

22 weeks pregnant
Braxton Hicks contractions may begin. Your breasts prepare for breastfeeding with colostrum.

23 weeks pregnant
Swelling in feet and ankles is common. Your blood volume has increased by nearly 50%.

24 weeks pregnant
Your uterus is now soccer ball-sized. Glucose screening test usually happens around now.

25 weeks pregnant
Heartburn and indigestion increase as your uterus pushes on your stomach. Sleep may be difficult.

26 weeks pregnant
Your blood pressure may rise slightly. Leg cramps and restless legs are common at night.
Third Trimester
Weeks 27-40+
27 weeks pregnant
Third trimester begins! Shortness of breath is normal as baby crowds your diaphragm.

28 weeks pregnant
Your belly button may pop out. Rh-negative moms receive RhoGAM injection around now.

29 weeks pregnant
Frequent urination returns as baby presses on your bladder. Fatigue increases again.

30 weeks pregnant
Your uterus is about 4 inches above your belly button. Mood swings may intensify.

31 weeks pregnant
Braxton Hicks contractions become stronger. Your body starts producing more relaxin hormone.

32 weeks pregnant
Colostrum may leak from your breasts. Your joints loosen in preparation for delivery.

33 weeks pregnant
Increased pelvic pressure as baby moves lower. Frequent bathroom trips disrupt sleep.

34 weeks pregnant
Your body retains more fluid causing swelling. Vision changes from fluid retention are normal.

35 weeks pregnant
Group B strep test usually happens now. Your cervix may begin to soften and efface.

36 weeks pregnant
Baby may drop into your pelvis (lightening). Breathing gets easier but bathroom trips increase.

37 weeks pregnant
Full term! Your cervix continues ripening. Nesting instinct may have you cleaning everything.

38 weeks pregnant
Braxton Hicks intensify. You may lose your mucus plug as your body prepares for labor.

39 weeks pregnant
Your cervix dilates and effaces. Watch for signs of labor: water breaking, regular contractions.

40 weeks pregnant
Due date week! Your body is ready. You may feel increased pressure and prelabor symptoms.

41 weeks pregnant
Still waiting! Your provider monitors you closely. Discuss induction options if needed.

42 weeks pregnant
Post-term pregnancy. Your healthcare team will discuss options for safe delivery.
